Darla Boljat –
Board Member
Born in Portland, Darla Kay Boljat grew up in Tigard and currently calls Sherwood, Oregon home. She paints landscapes in her studio. Darla says "I love Sherwood and all of Oregon’s beautiful landscapes. I could paint scenery here in Oregon for the rest of my life and still never finish painting all the wonderful sites Oregon has to offer."
Life has not been easy, but Darla has had the drive to overcome whatever obstacles it brought her way. She struggled as a single mom for 12 years of her son’s life and didn’t let negative circumstances get her down. Rather than bemoaning the situation, she scraped up the necessary resources to purchase her own home in 1993. She then worked to develop life skills to needed to succeed. Since then she is accomplished in gardening, plumbing, carpentry, woodworking and flooring.
Not one to turn down a challenge, Darla has completely remodeled entire rooms in her home. She now has an arsenal of tools, so she is prepared for any upcoming repair. One summer Darla rebuilt the front deck on her house, and built a playhouse following a book from the library. Darla is the ultimate “do-it-yourselfer.” Darla feels blessed by God, and thankful to have learned her new love of painting while still young enough to pursue it. She enjoyed the photography class from college, and uses her camera for the reference pictures of upcoming masterpieces. Darla says "Each painting is a challenge that I can't wait to begin".
